Got my comp a couple weeks ago, but haven't got around to making backups or whatever. I heard i can make a windows xp cd? yea...any thoughts on what i should do to make sure i have all the software on a burnt disc and a backup of my computer would be very nice. And also, i don't know how to do all this stuff. so help would be appreciated. Thanks :).

You can burn a set of recovery CDs that can do a factory reinstall of the operating system. I can't think of where you go to do this off the top of my head, but it should be under Acess IBM somewhere.

As for backups, the same utility under Acess IBM should also let you create a backup of your hard drive to a number of different locations: network hard drive, external hard drive, CD/DVD, etc.

Okay, I checked; all you have to do is hit the handy "Acess IBM" button, go to the "Protect and Recover" heading, and look under "Protect computer data" to find everything you want to do.

EDIT: What Thinkpad do you have, by the way? How do you like it?

Make sure you back up the drivers folder as well.
