its just a sticker, just try to slide something hard in between the sticker and casing to get it started, then you should be able to pull it off. Mind you that it uses some strong adhesive and takes a surprisingly large amount of force to peel it off, it will flex the casing when you pull it off.

use the sticker to try and pick up the rest of the residue.

what kind of keyboard did you end up with? also did you end up going with the SXGA+ on your newer order?

Well the Samsung SXGA+ is not the same screen as the wide screens that everyone is flaming. The SXGA+ samsungs may very well not have the same problems the Samsung wide screen are said to have.

You are however the first one I have heard of that got the Samsung screen with the SXGA+, everyone else that I read about got the TMD(Toshiba) SXGA+. If you put on a black background do you see any light bleeding?

hmmm, im not 100% sure its a samsung then.
my FRU number when i do a parts lookup was 00000000
i looked up the MFG number on google, and saw some people saying it was a samsung.

there is some slight light leakage on the bottom, but overall im actually impressed with the screen.

Run PC Wizard 2007 if you get a chance, you can get a model number of the LCD and then pop that in google.

I'm glad you are happy with your T61. I love mine, no complaints here, they are great laptops.

The FRU for the 14.1" TMD (Toshiba) SXGA+ is 42T0373.

I don't think the FRU for Samsung is 000000.

I got the TMD/Alps. There is some light leakage on mine too.

As for removing sticky label residue from your laptop, try nail polish remover

eeeeek! I removed all of my stickers except the IBM sticker just by peeling them off... no heat necessary. Then just dab the residue with some sticky scotch tape. It'll come right off.

That's cool! :) It's your computer, you should do what you want to with it. Some people like the stickers, others don't.

To me they are the equivalent of bumper stickers on a car. I don't like those either. :p

I peeled my stickers off, rubbed off as much of the sticky stuff as possible with my fingers, then rubbed the area with a damp microfiber until it was clean. Took about 10 minutes total.

There is also a product called "Goo Gone" which is meant for exactly this purpose - removing the sticky messes left by labels / tape / gum, etc. It's an excellent product, and I'm sure would have done the job in about 10 seconds. I was just a little nervous about using it on my firstborn T61.

Seriously all you have to do is dab it with scotch tape like two or three times and all residue is gone.

Wow. Just use your man muscles. I didn't know removing a sticker could be so hard. And I think it's a good idea to do so for when they come off later by themselves so you don't have 2 off-color patches.

Peeled off my stickers, used some Zippo fluid to help remove the sticky gunk. I'm not suggesting you use Zippo fluid, but I've used that for removing thermal paste.. :p

Peel it off hastily, leaving goop all over the place.

Then splash on some isopropyl rubbing alcohol and rub it off.

With an adequate amount of man muscle, it'll come off very quickly.

okay guys how about another kind of stickers specifically those found on keyboard keys?

I run linux on this laptop and frankly speaking strongly dislike windows **** (haha it **** "m . e . t . a" word ^^) key emblem. It's not plain hatred towards micro****, yeah, it's part of it but the most discouraging fact is that it looks plain ugly.. reminds of fascist emblem - a black windows emblem that has got four sections on the top of white round shaped background ewww... totally gross.

I want to take it off and stick a penguin instead. How do I do that avoiding causing damage to the surface of the keyboard key?

there's a 40-reply thread on how to remove a STICKER? I mean I could understand if this were badging on an expensive car or bumper stickers that had been cooked on for years, but c'mon people it's just a sticker! Get your fingernail under one corner and start peeling away! I'm sure you'll figure out how to get the residue off as well. :)
