    how does leaving the SD card in the x220 reflect on the battery performance?

    Just wondering about the battery life of x220 if I'd leave an SD card in it, at all times. The plan is to put music on the card and play it from there.

    Just an idea I had, since with x220 there's a limit on which hard drive you can put in (9.5mm being too thick to fit without modifications).

    Edit: I should add that it's a class 10 32GB SDHC card

    I do this on my T500, and have been using this method for a few years now. No noticeable impact on battery life; SD cards are very low power.

    On some of the older ThinkPads, depending on the drivers the answer was potentially "a lot". Thankfully, the newer card readers don't cause the wakeup storms that their predecessors did, so I wouldn't worry about it with a new ThinkPad like you've got.

    Of course you can always benchmark it if you're concerned...
