    The two have totally different video cards. Are you more in favor of graphic performance or battery life?

    If it's battery life, then configure for the integrated X3100. If it's not, then go for the 140M.

    You probably do not need that...

    Basically its battery life vs performance on the video cards. If you do not plan to game, I would go with the X3100 and enjoy the battery life. If you are always plugged into AC power and play games, the NVS140 is the only option.

    Do note that the R61 weighs nearly a pound more than the T61 and has a less-durable covering (ABS plastic, I believe).

    That being said, I would also like to recommend that you only order 1GB of RAM and buy more online, since these machines are CTO. It's always cheaper to do that.
