    hello, I want to upgrade my w500 from 2gb ram to 8gb, what is the best upgrade path? how many slots are there?

    If you want it maxed out at 8GB, yes.


    Well, you could start by adding just one 4GB DIMM - presuming that the system currently has a single 2GB chip - and checking how 6GB works for you...

    Are ram recommendations? Will any laptop ram work? Does it have to be DDR3?

    Stay away from no-name generics and "value RAM" offerings.

    Your best bet is 8500...and yes, it has to be DDR3...
