Tried it several years ago, but am not using it at the moment. Here are some links that may help answer your questions.

I posted this question a little while ago. It may help:

I just tried CSS last week on a T61. The version I used may have been an older one (the T61 had just been re-imaged with the original XP preload although I did run Windows and ThinkVantage updates). Fingerprints enrolled fine and it worked ok while I was playing with it in the office, but once I took it home and tried to connect to my home wifi with Access Connections, CSS went bonkers. It kept asking me to rescan my finger, then the pop-up window for fingerprint scanning started flashing rapidly and then whole screen started flashing as well.
I wasn't willing to take the chance that the machine would be rendered unusable by screwy security software so I have uninstalled CSS. -
Windows normal security is moot, since you can always take the hard drive and mount it on another computer. The only real security is either partial, or full harddrive encryption. The client security solution does not offer full hard drive encryption, but does offer partial drive encryption. The client security solution is kinda like a middle-man to the TPM chip, and offers things like storing all your passwords, so you can login to sites and programs with the swipe of your finger.
Google "bitlocker" for more info on full drive encryption (comes with win7 ultimate). Also, if you harddrive supports it, you can set a "hard drive" password, which will lock your hard drive until until the right credentials are supplied (password or fingerprint). This functionality does not encrypt, but does lock the drive, making it hard, if not impossible to mount on another pc.
I've had client security solution get all funky on me, on previous lbm thinkpads, so I never really let myself become to dependent on it. Also, there is a way to backup your encryption keys to prevent a loss of your TPM encrypted data. Also, if you become overly reliable of the client security solution, it will be hard to login to sites when you dont have access to your thinkpad, or cant use the client security solution. -
I like TrueCrypt even better since you don't need Windows Ultimate for it.

I downloaded to test it, and nowhere do I see this option?

CSS is most ideal if you are in a unified management environment. i.e. you have 1000 Thinkpad users and an IT staff..
What are trying to accomplish specifically? Or were you just curious? -
I believe it offers some type of "virtual safe" option, which allows you create a virtual volume for encrypted files. Can a current user confirm this?
how many use 'Thinkvantage Client Security Solutions'?
