I just picked up an x60t (tablet) - impulse buy.![]()
I've always wanted to see Windows 7's tablet features at work and finally I have the chance. Gotta get a $40 pen first because it's missing.![]()
Problem is, the x60t came with only 2x512mb of ram which I am sure is inadequate.
Should I upgrade to:
a) 2.5 gb ram for $30 (one 2gb module)
or
b) 4 gb of ram for $55 ( 2 x 2gb modules)
I'm not even sure if I'm keeping the machine so I was thinking that for trial purposes Windows 7 32bit would run ok on 2.5gb of ram.
What do you think?
Thank you in advance for your replies.![]()

2.5GB will be perfectly adequate for W7T x86. i installed win 7 pro x86 on an X32 with 1GB and T400 with 2GB and both run great.

Even Vista, which doesn't play as well on machines with less RAM, ran perfectly fine with 2GB of RAM on my T500 (which I did for about one year before upgrading to W7 and installing another 2GB of RAM). The 2.5GB will be just fine!

2.5GB should be plenty sufficient.
Also note that if you were going to use 2x2GB you would want to use the 64-bit version of Windows 7 (this may not even be possible on the x60T if it has an older Core Duo as only the Core 2 and later support x86-64). If you use a 32-bit OS you'll be capped around 3.25 GB. This is still plenty, but you're not getting your full moneys worth. -
Thank You all for your input.
I went ahead with the 2gb module upgrade. 750mb of RAM is obviously not worth $30.
The x60 tablet runs very well. I suspect the Sandforce Vertex I put in also helped.
I am also very happy to have once again found Sketchbook Pro, which is no longer made by Alias but by Autodesk.
how much ram do I need for Windows 7 Tablet on a Thinkpad X60t ?
