I have a T60 with Intel GMA 950 graphics. In the Graphic Properties panel it says that the minimum graphics memory is 8MB, the maximum is 224MB and there are currently 9MB in use. The question is: do I have to manually allocate the amount of memory to be used by the chip or it automatically allocates more or less memory depending on the running application?

Your correct, the system decides how much ram is needed and allocates it appropriately.
