Is there a way to quick turn it off and turn it back on when needed
-
Fn + F8 -> "Enable touch pad only"
-
not in the X200 tablet, unless there is some sort of custom softwares.
X200/s/t doesn't have touchpad. -
I don't have that option...
I need to disable the trackpoint because it is annoying during writing in tablet mode. If I press too hard, the back of the screen touches the trackingpoint and moves the cursor...
This is ridiculous....They made the trackpoint too high!!!!!!! I can control the trackpoint with the screen.
problem solved.... I took the trackpoint out.... -
You could also look into getting a different style of Trackpoint nub. I believe the 'cat's tongue' one sits a lot lower than the standard 'soft dome' one, and is less prone to movement.
-
If you still have trouble, put the sensitivity all the way down and put the touch pressure all the way up.
-
another easy way is to just remove the trackpoint nub before you start using the x200t in the tablet mode, problem fixed.
-
^lol. The best solutions are often the simplest.
-
if I use a flat or smaller trackpoint like this, would they prevent the screen from contacting?
-
Which trackpoint cap do you have on there currently? In my previous post I mentioned that the cat's tongue one(the smallest, rough-textured one) is probably your best bet. I've got the dome one on my X200 and sometimes see an imprint of it on my display.
-
I am currently using the stock one, which I have taken out.
-
Hmmmm...
So if you don't have any of the three track points you posted a link to, what do you have? Could you please post a pic? -
-
I think the sof dome one is what's shipping on pretty much every TP I've seen since the T4x days. I've grown used to it, but the classic dome(or cat's tongue as I've heard it called) is likely going to be the one that'll be the lowest profile.
-
In that case, maybe the classic dome will not serve him any better as they seem to have the same height. I love soft rim because it does stick out/up much more than the other two, giving me much more control. -
my thinkpad came with the soft dome trackpoint, I thought all thinkpads would have the same type as stock. What did yours have as stock?
-
Classic Dome!
The reason why I kept asking, because you kept saying default and didn't point out that you were using any of the three you posted a link to, since I did ask which of the three you were using. I'm behind on this ThinkPad stuff, as they didn't appeal to me at all in my much younger years, and barely appeal to me now. The Pentium M Thinkpads that were out when I first got my dell D600 all had Classic Dome trackpoints, which lead me to believe that was the default trackpoint. Even when I come across a few older thinkpads today, they sport the Classic Dome trackpoint. -
finally got the three domes today, none of them solved the issue, all being too high. So there is no way of temporary disabling the trackpoint at all?
how to disable trackpoint.
