I plan to do a fresh install Win7 Embedded Standard on the 16GB mSATA drive. The size of it should be suffice for this OS.

The question is how to change this cache drive into a real hard drive? I checked the BIOS settings and nothing is in there. However, when I press F10, this drive shows up as a HD1 in the booting menu.

If I use an installation disk to boot the system, will this mSATA be recognized as a real hard drive to install an OS?

Yes, at least that's how it worked on my X220i.

At first I would disable caching using Intel software.
