    oh so its some sort of an add on software that i need to install ? i thought the t61's had some kind of feature to messure temps.

    no i don;t have heating problems, bbut everyone is talking about it so i thought i should check too..lol

    i guess the question is how accurate are those softwares, since they don;t have a thermometer? or are they calculating the temps based on some of the performance numbers that windows provide.

    Theres an embedded DTS (digital thermal sensor) in your CPU and GPU cores. The temperatures will be very accurate.

    Your HD also has a thermal sensor in it, monitored by SMART.

    I recommend RightMark CPU Clock Utility for getting temperature readings of the CPU. If you want temperature readings of the GPU you can use RivaTuner. For temperature readings of the hard drive use HD Tune.

    come on now .. let the guy know the easy stuff

    it's called CPU-Z, google it

    for the GPU, it's called GPU-Z ... lol

    also, RM Clock shows temps, but needs installation

    also, TPFanControl shows temps, needs installation as well

    duh ... you're 50% correct ... the CPU-Z doesn't show temps, just checked

    for GPU-Z, click on sensors up top :)
