I want to replace the keyboard in my new r61 . when I open it up, the connector from the thinkpad to the main board is a black square rubber and under it is a metal square. I have tried to pull out the metal square but it won't move. Could you tell me how to remove the keyboard? thanks

It says R60 but it's pretty much the same.
Good luck! -
Thanks. But I watched that movie before . The image too small and the hand of the technician too big . I cannot see how he disconnect the connector of the keyboard. Anyone has real experience in replacing thinkpad keyboard? thanks

You just unplug a connector. There's only a single cord connecting the keyboard to the computer and that's all you disconnect.
Have you tried the video located here?
