I gave a name to a local area network and would like to rename it, but can't find how to do it either in my network places or wireless. If someone could tell me I'll be grateful!

I presume you are asking about access connection profiles. If so open AC->switch to Advanced mode->Location Profiles tab and you should see the liust of network connections and on the right side you should see an edit button and that should enable you to change the names of the network profiles.
