i just ordered a R400 from lenovo outlet, and i got it with a 4 cell battery and i would like to know how bad it is.
it says 3.3 hours on the website, but that seems too much.

how much battery life can I expect from a 4 cell and a 6 cell for the R400?

It is a fine laptop. I am just assuming, but I think the T series is more popular than the R series. Battery life should be comparable (sans LED backlit display) across R and T series. As for what you should expect, I don't know. I have only had a 6-cell and 9-cell batteries and I have a LED display.

That would depend on specs. Do you have integrated graphics, an LED screen, and a Core 2 Duo (as opposed to a Celeron)? If so, you could probably get ~3 hours on a 4-cell battery (maybe 4 if you really stretch it).

The R-series is a fine laptop, but it isn't as widely purchased as the T-series since it is a bit more bulky. It has all the features of Thinkpads though.
