I am just about to submit my order for a new T420 but i had one quick question about the CPU. There is a $7 dollar upgrade between my two configurations. What is the difference between these two models. As far as i can tell every spec is the same except for the model number. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

There's a 100MHz difference in base/turbo clocks. For $7, go for it.

Thanks for the link but you compared the wrong ones. But the link helped me fine the difference. Just the difference in the turbo frequency by 100Mhz.
Thanks again -

LOL, sorry, just realized you wrote 2450M not 2540M.

Pay attention to Intel® Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d) - http://www.intel.com/technology/itj/2006/v10i3/2-io/7-conclusion.htm; i5-2520M has it, i5-2450M not. If you need this, then buy 2520M.

There will be no noticeable difference outside of benchmarks, but for $7, I'd go with the upgrade. If you ever resell down the road, people do like to see larger numbers

$7 is a no brainer,
i5-2520M vs i5-2450M for the T420
