hey guys, i have recently been looking at thinkpad and cant not help but falling in love with it. so here is my question, i am not a hardcore gamer, but i do play some games like call of duty 4, fear, maybe crysis. so i was wonder which of these laptop would handle my gaming style better, the thinkpad t500 or the w500? if there is any other ibm notebook that is 15" and can handle these games, plz let me know. thanks

You aren't a hardcore gamer...because of the amount of time you spend gaming :p?

All the games you listed are decently taxing...W500 has more graphics power if you want the best 15in option.

well i am not hardcore gamer because i dont have the time :( too much school work). anyways, i do intent to keep this lappy for 3 years so i am looking more towards the w500... but i heard alot of people say that the t500 is better because of some reason ( i have no idea what that is). so i want to get some other options.
    thank you!

the t500 is less likely to have driver problems with futures games because o more frequent driver updates. My t500 should be arriving soon, gonna put up a review + pics =]

Ya the w500 uses a workstation graphics card. It is more powerful but I have no idea how it will be realistically for gaming performance. Wait for reviews from users like acerbits if you have time.

I don't recall if the W500 has hybrid graphics, but I think that if you will be carrying the laptop all around the campus get the T400.

In general workstation graphics cards are not any more powerful than consumer graphics cards. They do however have special modes to produce more accurate images and are certified to work with certain high-end applications like AutoCAD.

If you're interested only in gaming, there is really no benefit to a workstation graphics card. Now, the W500 does offer NVIDIA cards instead of the ATI cards in the T500, but they may or may not be any faster at running games.
