Looks to me like the ideapad yoga is not widi compatible cause it doesn't have an intel wireless card.
Is that right? If so, is it easy to replace the wireless card? I know it is on regular laptops but not sure with this ultrabook.
Thanks.

So it maybe possible to achieve WiDi...
Apparently there's 3 different cards:
FRU# 20200050 - Broadcom 4330 BGN + BT WLAN
FRU# 20200052 - Realtek RTL8732 WiFi BGN+BT WLAN
FRU# 69532436 - INTEL 6235 BT4 WLAN (JAPAN)
I'm interested in that last FRU... I wonder how do we get it sourced.
Or either use the second mini-PCIe/mSATA slot and reposition the wireless cables. -
Has anyone ever been able to change their Wifi card on the Lenovo Yoga 13 with a 5GHz capable version?
For example, the FRU# 20200050 - Broadcom 4330 BGN + BT WLAN -
Miracast /WIDI on Yoga 11s, finally!
I have finally been able to achieve Miracast/Widi and project an extended screen from my Yoga 11s to my LG Smart TV and doing so using the native Realtek wifi adapter in the Yoga. It all happened Cyber Monday.
I actually took my Yoga apart to investigate the possibility of replacing the Realtek wifi adapter, but I don't think the 11s has the above mentioned second mini-PCIe slot, as I think it's the card reader (but I hardly know what I'm doing with hardware).
After reassembly and tinkering through settings to see if I had broken anything, I noticed an optional Windows Update released in November for the WLAN software for the RTL8723AU adapter. I installed it and miraculously Miracast worked! (Albeit only in a range of maybe 15 feet from the TV which is still in the HDMI cable range, really).
Now if this was the only thing that made Miracast possible, I don't know. Several other factors may have been at play: (I've installed 8.1 on my 11s and desktop that I discuss below, fyi.)
1) I had previously updated the HD 4000 graphics driver not from Lenovo's website, but from Intel's, to version 10.18.10.3345 - which is a newer release than what is on the Lenovo website (10.18.10.3277). The Realtek update alone without this graphics update may not have been enough. Don't know. Just something to watch if you try the Realtek update and it doesn't work.
2) I had previously used PerfectUpdate software on my desktop to auto-update drivers and found about 20 drivers out of date even though I’ve had Windows Update and SlimDrivers supposedly doing this for me. It's a custom built mini-ITX desktop so I thought maybe that could be why. Surely an OEM like Lenovo would have this stuff figured out...
Well, since the software was half off on Cyber Monday (so it was only like $8 or $9), i purchased it for my Yoga. (You can actually run the software for free without paying to see what's out of date and manually download the drivers, but with 18-20 drivers found to be out of date, it was worth it to have them auto download/install. Of note: it does find a couple of drivers that are not system appropriate, but no biggee, it just wastes a bit of time, but they don't actually install.)
I don't remember which came first, all the other driver updates or the realtek update, and again whether or not the realtek update alone made the difference, or it was all these others, so I'm being amorphously detailed (yes, contradictory, I know) with this since this issue has consumed far too much of my time and hope for others not to repeat.
The drivers updated as found by the Perfect Updater software included:
8 drivers for AV Remote Target Service
1 Generic Bluetooth Adapter
1 Personal area network service
1 DRAM controller
1 Intel Mngt Engine Interface
1 Intel QS77 controller
1 Motherboard Resources
1 PCI Express Root Complex
1 Synaptics SMBus Driver
3 USB Drivers, and
1 for the Camera
Certainly all these being out of date may have been enough, everything else perfect, to cause a lack of Miracast, but again, who knows.
Hopefully this diatribe helps fellow Miracast-frustrated Yoga enthusiasts!
Also, as far as I could tell the Miracast functioned just as WIDI would, including working with the WIDI Widget to move a Lenovo window to the 2nd screen. (Kinda handy since the 2nd screen in all likelihood won't have touch, and to move a window in extended screen mode can be tricky if you don't have a mouse handy and have deactivated the touchpad - since the Yoga is in tablet mode, for example.)
