I would say they will begin to use them by the end of August or early September. I would then go on to say that they should be widely available to their customers starting the end of September or early October as the inital shipments of Merom are said to be quite small and I am guessing will be sold out very quickly if they aren't already.

The press says that Apple will be first out of the chute with Core 2 Duo and has a huge order due this month from Intel. If they grab up all the product, the others will have to wait until Intel can deliver.

I'm guessing that Apple, Dell, and HP will be the first to get their product and Lenovo will not get enough to ship until 4Q06.

wow I'm on a roll finding questions I can answer.

4q06 means fourth quarter of 2006.
fourth quarter means the fourth quarter of the year: October, Novemeber, December. Unelss it refers to the fiscal year, then I think fourth quarter is Feb, March, April.

The information out of Intel on the subject of Core 2 at present seems exclusively focussed on desktop solutions, if that's any indication of how far away mobiles might be.
