Check whether you are using the AHCI storage driver - see the attached. This is an indication that the Intel Matrix Storage Manager is running.

Leave it alone for awhile. It sometimes takes quite a few re-boots before they are "un-greyed".

it's been about 15-20 reboots now

oh, and i'm running in compatability mode, not AHCI, cause that's required for linux to install. does that mean i can't use turbo memory?

Yes it needs to be in AHCI mode. And it only works in Vista too, not Linux.

Now that I have it running smoothly, (at least no freezes for some days), I would say there is a noticable difference with turbo memory, mainly in launching applications. And I have 4GB of RAM.

One thing to remember is that ReadyBoost uses 2:1 compression which effectively doubles the size of the memory it gets to use. I don't know if that is true of ReadyDrive. But that means that the 512MB ReadyBoost partition in Turbo Memory acts like 1GB, unless you already compress your hard drive too.

so no further freezes/bsods after disabling abs? awesome...i had freezes and bsods even after not installing turbo mem drivers and having abs enabled...so it looks like abs is the root of the problem
