dear forum users,
i tried to find something on that topic in this forum and elsewhere in the internet but didnt succeed. therefore i thought you could maybe help:
i ll receive my new x200 notbeook soon, there is no operating system installed on it and i want to install windows xp.
so i wanted to ask if you know any instruction for a proper and clean win xp installataion on the x200 similar to the fabulous instruction for the 60-series provided by Archit3kt (forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=188992)?
if there is none, do you think i should attach to the instruction for the 60-series mentioned above?
thank you very much in advance.
very best, jahmal

Just curious, how'd you get a X200 with no OS?
I don't think we're talking rocket science here. Just slipstream in service pack three into the OS disc and install it. Download all the drivers/apps you need from Lenovo's site.
Some of the apps on Lenovo's site like WinDVD or the ThinkPad burning software are upgrades. You'd need the software already installed to get it to install, which I am assuming you won't get because you got it with no OS. Luckily there are freeware apps like VideoLAN and CDBurnerXP, which work great. I use them myself. -
I would be very interested to hear if anyone manages to make the video driver behave on a clean installation of XP/SP3 on X200 ... -
yes, according to my experience with clean XP install on my t61p it DOES matter to have proper instructions for what to install when etc.
and the problem with the video driver doesnt sound very promising ... of course i also plan to attach the x200 to an external monitor when working at home.
@ZaZ: i bought the x200 within an university special offer and there is only DOS installed on the machine.
all the best, jahmal -
You tried the driver from Intel's site?
-
There's no Intel TPM driver for XP SP3. Ther driver on LENOVO website is for XP SP2. You should extract that SP2 driver and install the TPM driver via INF method. IT'S just eliminate question mark in the device manager and no use for running CSS 8.
ANYONE help about this?
