is there a good reason why x200(s) has so wide bezels around the display?

Why don't they therefore enlarge the display area a little since there is room for that?

It's not quite large enough for a 13" display, and besides, that's what the X301 is for. Display manufacturers only produce displays in standard sizes, so Lenovo can't put a 12.5" display, for example.

I assume you mean Lenovo do it to p*ss you off. That's not true at all, however. I tried opening up the bezel before, and inside there are multiple antennae, both for Wifi and for WWAN, and they are all squish onto both sides of the bezel. If they don't make the bezel bigger, then they can't fit all those wires in there.

i have to disagree zephir. My X61 has a really small thin bezel and they managed to put the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth antena, and i think i have space for a WWAN antena too :)

The bezel is probably wider to accomodate fitting an 100% keyboard. Otherwise, they would have to make the keys smaller.

I believe that you are correct. The keyboard of the X200 spans to the edge of the laptop, so I think they make the bezel wider to accomodate the base.

Yes, and while they are at it they just pack the wireless wiring in there. Anyone who has taken apart the bezel knows it isn't just empty space. I am still not sure why people care so much about a thin bezel still. It is a business laptop and the black around starts to just blend as you actually use it and look at the screen.

That's what I think as well, I used to groan when I look at the bezel of the X200-series, and now after getting them, I don't even care any more.

Very true. I cared about the X200T bezel for all of a second. That the display is off-center is a minute nitpick, but again, I cared about that for all of a second. :p I absolutely love the X200T and it rivals that gorgeous SXGA+ in the X6x. I'm very pleased with it.
