I am looking to get a T60, and was wondering if there is significant difference (for the extra cost) between the two processors T5600 and T7200? It's quite a jump in terms of price. Any bench marks or personal anecdotes?

    Thanks

Unless you're doing things like video editing, I would stick with the t5600. I have this processor and am very impressed with the overall performance.

Basically, the only performance increase you'll see is if you're doing processor-dependent tasks, like video or audio encoding.

Otherwise, the T5600 would be fine if you're not doing to be doing encoding and such.

Yes, the T7200 can run HDTV applications...but uses up to 75% of the total power the chip offers. A T5600 would be using close to 100%, and it probably wouldn't be so smooth.

Of course, for daily general use you'll never notice the difference. But I'm giving you a not-so-daily-use example.

Thanks for the examples, I will be doing quite a bit of video and photo work on it.

remember that the largest difference may not be the clock but the cache (2mb vs 4mmb)
