PLEASE LEAVE UR ADVICE :) :) 2400 BUCKS ON SOMETHING ELSE OR THIS?

i could get a T43 with the following specs for reduced pricing:

    14.1 in. SXGA+ 1400x1050
    Pentium M 770 2.13 GHZ
128 MB ATI FireGL V3200 Graphics Card
60 GB Harddrive running at 7200 rpm
    bluetooth/wireless/fingerprint reader/etc.

    for the price
of $2358.85 compared to the regular online price of $3,629.00.

Is the price so good that it is a must buy or is the 2400 bucks spent on something else more effective.

I will be an engineer major in college so i like the graphics card although I wouldnt mind a gaming card at all. Speed/size/versatility the whole shabang. So should I go for it or spend the 2400 on something else...? Leave your thoughts!

I didn't think the T43p was out yet. That price is an excellent deal. Where are you getting it?

I agree that it is a good price for T43p. Same product on IBM website with education discount will cost $2600. Having said that, I don't think it is absolutely necessary to spend so much money on that unless you are professional working with 3d graphic and CAD heavily. No disrespect, but I think it's probrably overkill for a college student. There are plenty of computers with decent dedicated video memory at much cheaper prices. For example, I spent less than $1400 on my Dell I6000. It is not as well buit as IBM and the 128MB X300 can not be compared with FireGL, but it seems to handle softwares such as 3d max and autocad pretty well. If I have the extra money, I will buy the T43p without hesitation. Unfortunately not all of us are rich. My point is that you should go for the T43p if money is not an issue, while some other computers may be much cheaper and can still get the job done.

    Dell Inspiron 6000d, Pentium M 750 (1.86 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB), 1GB (2x512MB) 400MHz DDR2 SDRAM, 80GB 5400RPM HD, 128MB ATI X300, 15.4" WSXGA+.

I would definately get it. Thats a great deal. Of course, if you don't need a computer than theres no point... Another option is buy it and sell it for more on ebay.

Hm, I see you are a player, want to provocate me for a fight, but see, I am a player myself, and if you would have a head full of brain and not a grain, you would see, that I was PLAYING with you, chinese guru, so me can not shut my mouth more than it is, I can tell my brain to stop torturing you, but I guess I don't want to, so go ahead, THE PLAYER, play with me, me'll take your down in no time, AFAIK chinese language people have no luck in such games, they are too short.

PS: you suck, china guru, in 3 month even me myself I could not tie two words in english.

Well...I got the following with $1350 + tax

    T43 2687-DRU
    1.86GHz, 512 MB RAM, 60G 5400 RPM HD, Intel Wireless a/b/g,
    Finger Print Reader, ATI x300 64MB GPU, 14 inch SXGA+ 1400x1050.

What you posted definitely has better spec, but something like 2687 will definitely be more than enough for schooling....and you save $1000 or so.
    just my 2 cents.
