    New t61p with 100gb 7200rpm drive

    i hear two noises from the hard drive

    1. a hollow sound kinda like the windows alert sound, like a light pick on a zylophone

    2 a clunk sound like a mable droped on the floor

    are these normal for the system, what are they, head parking? something else?

    Neither noise is "normal," so I'd say neither noise is "ok." ;)

    I have no idea what the first noise might be, but the second noise might be something lose inside your notebook. If it bothers you, take a peek inside.

    I have the same HD. No idea about the first sound, but I do not hear it. I do hear something like the second sound, though, and I would also love to read whether it's ok or not.
