I've been offered the following T42:

    #8729; Intel Pentium M 735
#8729; 512mb DDR RAM (plus an open memory slot for upgrades)
#8729; 60gb 7200rpm Ultra High Speed Hard Drive
    #8729; 24x24x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive
    #8729; 14.1" SXGA+ 1400x1050 LCD
    #8729; ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 64mb Video
    #8729; Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG 802.11b/g WiFi Wireless
    #8729; IBM Bluetooth Wireless
    #8729; IBM Security Chip
    #8729; Gigabit Ethernet and V.92 56k Modem
    #8729; Two USB 2.0 Ports
    #8729; 6-cell Lithium Ion Battery
    #8729; Windows XP Professional Edition
    #8729; 3-Year IBM Factory Warranty

all directly for $1959 to be picked up from the seller, no shipping or taxes. Is this worth it or should I hold out for a better deal?

    Thanks.

    Hi nuggien,
This is no special deal or something to jumpped on. It is for a new sealed unit right? Does the seller offer a dead pixel return policy? I would say that this is about what IBM sells them for direct, but they will add tax. However they give you a 30 days no questions asked return policy so if there are any bad pixels you can send it back for another.

I recently bought a 2379 dxu for about $300 more. At the time I bought it, that was the best price I could find through a reputable reseller. The only difference is that mine is a 15" screen sxga+. My opinion is that this is a good deal (if the seller is reputable). I don't think one more inch of screen is worth $300. I love my dxu, but if I had the deal you have, I would snatch it up.

I've never seen the non T42p with a 60gb 7200 rpm hard drive before. This kind of configuration on the ibm website is way way expensive compared to this price.

Can you point me to any links that have the same config at about the same price as $1959, bootleg2go?

    how about:

    P M 745 1.8GHz, 1GB RAM, 60GB 7200rpm HDD, 14.1 SXGA+(1400x1050) TFT LCD, 128MB ATI FireGL T2, CD-RW/DVD-R Multi-Burner(Slim), Intel 802.11b/g wireless(MPCI), Bluetooth/Modem(CDC), 1Gb Ethernet(LOM), UltraNav, Secure Chip, WinXP Pro, 9 cell battery

    Basically a t42p 2373GRU with upgraded ram, for $2199?

I think it's a good deal, but just making sure what others with more t42 experience think, since this would be my first t42.
