just being curious. I have heard a lot of people talking about the T61 screens being dim. How dim exactly is it? My T61 with LG screen brightness is more than enough for me. for the past 2 years, i have been using it with only 60% of the total brightness and it's bright!

so is this some sort of personal experiences? i believe not everyone's eyes are the same. my vision is 20/20.

Not dim at all. I also usually didn't use full brightness, usually 80-90%, as I don't like it too bright. I thought less brightness may prolong the screen's life? (not sure, though, but I think that's the case with CRT?)

It's OK, but recently compared it with a HP monster 16" LED screen and is not as bright. I use my T61 indoor all the time so is not cranked up all the way the brightness, but I'd like to know how it compares against a LED backlight display.

I have a x200s which has backlight. It is too bright for me, eyes uncomfortable staring at it.

It could be a reference to the standard screened T61 or other older ThinkPads, which are considerably dimmer.

I think standard panel T61 uses the same old screens used on the T60 series. That would be logical to assume since the T61 was the last model ever to have a 4:3 screens and I think manufacturers of those panels stopped producing those prior 2007.

you must take into consideration the amount of time the laptop has been used...the t61 actually has ccfl display and as we all know, this kind of display dims with time...

My T61 screen (15.4" 1280x800) is certainly bright enough. Not as bright as my netbook's LED screen, but still perfectly usable in a brightly lit room or next to a window. In fact, due to the matte surface, I find the T61 screen is far more usable in strong lighting conditions than my netbook.

My LG-Philips screen is bright enough for me on AC even though white is slightly inaccurate.
