So I am working on a clean install right now, just using the upgrade disc to install a clean version of windows. (This should delete all the old stuff correct?)
I just have a few questions
1. Of the lenovo programs I will download (all the thinkvantage stuff) which of the stuff is mainly used for business. Mainly I am only looking to keep the stuff around that is helpful for maintaining the computer. So any sort of break down on the programs would be great
2. How do I delete the hidden partition? I am planning on burning it to DVDs and will have no further use for it on the hardrive.

The OS disk they send you still has the bloatware on it I believe. For # 2, I'm not sure. One quick question for you?
What are your initial impressions of the build quality of the machine?

I don't think you'll be able to do a clean install unless you have your own clean version of vista. Anything that you've gotten with your laptop probably has all the bloatware on it.
I have heard there is something called "base software adminstrator" that lets you choose what you want and don't want when you do a recovery from the partition. Here is a link to a post about it:

I'm sure if you call technical support and mention that base software adminstrator they'd be able to help you. Also, if you call tech support they'd be able to help you make recovery discs of the partition and help you delete it. -
Well for those interested I used the upgrade disc (from microsoft) and now I only have vista business (well I have now installed some drivers to get internet.)
Now for the questions you have asked
1. I am in Canada, I recieved the laptop yesterday and I ordered it on Victoria Day (a little less than 3 weeks ago)
2. I have the IBM thinkpad logo
3. The build quality seems rather solid. Everything is plastic from what I can tell but none of it is really flexing. It is all really solid and nothing really sticks out that could be a potential problem. -
Does ordering in Canada effect the logo you receive, I'm only asking because I purchased a 15.4" T61 and was inquiring as to what logo I will be receiving.

I have no clue on the logo. I just assumed I would get the new one... but I did not really care either way. I know from what I have seen Canadians do seem to recieve theirs faster (could be because we cant customize them)
