I just ordered a 2007c4u and should be getting it in a few days. I see that a lot of people do a clean install right when they get their thinkpads. Is my t60 going to run poorly if I don't do a clean install? What about if I just use it as configured and just delete the programs that I don't want? I don't really want to alter too much unless its really going to enchance the performance.

I wouldn't, Thinkpads are usually pretty good about useless software. About the most cruft you'll find is Windows, but also some Google software which you may or may not want anyway. Regardless, it's easy to remove.

The Thinkvantage stuff takes some resources, but you'll probably find it more useful than resource hungry. You can always disable things you don't want in msconfig.
