Yeah I had this happen with my old laptop before. The problem was that I had too much stuff putting pressure on my laptop's lid while it was closed. I took a piece of foam that covered the keyboard when I got it and placed it in between the keyboard and the screen. Now I don't get any more marks.

Pretty much use any thin sheet of clean fabric and place it between the keyboard and monitor before you close your laptop.

i've just used a piece of plain paper for the last 6 or so years on my old inspiron... it works great, not a mark - plus it's handy if you suddenly need to write down an error code!

I have a screen protector from shaggymac.com that i realy like. It was about $15. Best money I've spent on an accessory for my laptop.

Please don't use plain paper or paper of any kind. Paper is *very* abrasive and could damage the screen!

As for cloth, you should ideally only use lens cloth but certain other cloths are okay provided their fibers are soft (my grandmother uses cloth diapers to clean her screen).
