Hey, I I'd really appreciate your help with this.
More then 3 weeks ago I made an order for Thinkpad 200S. Yesterday I have got this mail.
"Hello-
I am writing to you to let you know that there was a problem with your order that you placed with Lenovo. There was a problem with the configuration when the order was placed, which unfortunately is holding your order up. I can rebook it for you if you'd like, and have actually already set up a quote for you. Please just let me know if you'd like to rebook the order, and we can get it expedited and out to you much faster that the original purchase would have been to you. Also, we do have an X201 that is shipping out much faster and is the newer model in the X series. It is a bit more expensive, but the performance of the system is worth it. Please let me know what you would like to do. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused".
I do not understand what was exactly the problem with the order since I received a confirmation while making it - that it was accepted.
Currently, when I'm checking the tracking # I'm geting an eror.
Did they cancled my orader? and if yes why it took them almost 4 weeks??
Does it a marketing kind of promotion so I can ask them for upgrade?
Look forward to hearing from you soon and I appreciate your help

I would call them!
And to me this sounds fishy - are you sure the email came directly from Lenovo? -
Well the problem is you can't be sure on either option you have. There is no gurantee that their new offer is really shipped faster than the one you already placed. I assume that older models are not as available as they used to be but on the other hand a new model might just be sold out as well due to popular demand.
I think no matter how you decide you are in Lenovos hands in that case. Look at their new offer and then decide - maybe you can get some sort of compensation for the wait or if you choose the new offer and they don't ship as fast as they promised.
I am sorry - here we can't buy Thinkpads directly from Lenovo so my advise might be not as helpfull. -
Well it's look like a general mail sign by marketing rep. I guess .
without any details about the laptop that I order or the new model x201 that they are offering (conf, cost, other op.) So it might be a marketing thing. but why I'm geting eror on my tracking #? Can they just cancel my order? making me buing a new one? I did called them- My order # is not existing!!
I do have email confirmation though.
How should I deal with this? -
The reason you don't have a tracking # is probably just because it never shipped. The 'problem with your order' probably had to do with a shortage of parts or at least a clerical error.
It sounds like your configuration required a part that they didn't have at the time, they've waited 4 weeks for the part to become available and now realize they can take this opportunity to try and sell you a newer model to make more money.
So if you don't want a newer model and just want what you ordered, ask the rep to rebook your order. If not, start form scratch and order the new x201/s -
Hmm your order is missing when calling in? I would try calling again. Email is not a reliable way to deal with lenovo...
-
Thanks AZNGUYPHAN. You made it clear.
Well, most probably you are right. I guess they want me to place a new order. Now since I have bought the laptop using a coupon which is quite hassle to get now for a new model. So I rather rebook it. Yep I'm not going to beat the odds on receiving my laptop in a respectable time-frame.
Go figure, is there some sort of compensation to be had for the huge delay , false Advertising or Inability to Deliver Product.
Is there in a respectable time-frame Lenovo committed for? -
The thing is "Bait and switch" they bait you with a great offer (20% coupon)then they switch to a more expensive one.
They have told me that I have to baby my original order X200s meaning wait for long time (may be 9 month). ON the other hand they can get me the new model within 2 weeks.
I said great and asked them to honored my coupon 20% - They are having matching system so you get what ever you had ordered but in a new X201s The catch is raising the price and giving half of the coupon so you ended up loosing the huge discount!!!
I told the sale rep. that I rather have my original lap.
