    Hey everyone,
I have an emerson tv and the lenovo thinkpad t410. I bought a cord for the display port on my laptop with an hdmi connection on the other end for the tv. It used to transmit both audio and video just fine, and since the laptop fixing place at my school replaced my hard drive, it will only transmit audio. My laptop won't even recognize that the cord is plugged in, not even listing it as an option under control panel, sounds.

What went wrong, and how can I fix it?

By default Windows 7 will cover the basic Audio drivers as a "High Definition Audio Device" but if that doesn't seem to work and your school haven't used the native Audio drivers then you can try reinstalling them by using this package instead to see if that works.

Thank you! I could never seem to find anyone with the same problem, despite checking that same forum!
I'm going to buy a new cord and see if that helps, and thank you very much :)
