Has anyone used a laptop computer with a pen device? Since the x41 tablet is quite outdated, I am thinking about getting a x60 laptopc instead but want some functionality of a tablet. Will laptop with a pen device do the trick?

Yes it will to some extent ,
I use it and its very nice , I believe newer wacom tablets are better speced then the notebook inc. tablets ( sensetivity etc. ) .
However it seems much more comfortable to ink directy on the screen .
I'd be happy to hear opnions of actual users who had both comparing them . -
Is "being able to ink on screen" the only real advantage of a tablet PC?
-
What is functionality of a tablet then ?

That's what I am trying to find out: what do I lose if I go for a laptop instead of a tablet?

what do you need to do with it? a laptop with an external graphics tablet is obviously less convenient for carrying around than a tablet PC, but if you don't need to write while on the go then you won't miss the tablet.
