    hi people

i was wondering if any of you could help me, iv had my lenovo T60 for about 18 months. the problem i have is that the computer doesnt turn on anymore, when i press the button the light comes on but then goes dead again and the system doent turn on. when i do this with the power supply connceted the battery light comes on aalso the symbol which is a circle with like a Z in it. but nothing still happens. i think that my son who is 2 may have spilt some of hes drink on the computer, but there was no sign of any water on the computer.

if any of you have any suggestions of what the problem might be, please post as i dont want to send it of to get fixed if its not needed. plu iont hav the money.

    thanks tommy

If he did spill something, it's prolly the mobo is dead. But even so, it sounds like your motherboard is fried. The other option would be the AC adapter, but you're saying you see some lights and have some power, so it can't be that.

Just cause you can't see any damage doesn't mean it's not there. Could try re-seating the memory and hard drive.

    cheers

sometimes it doesnt even turn on, when i plug in my AC adapter not even the plug light comes on to say the adapter is connected. when it does i try to turn it on, it goes to start as normal but then just dead again after lik 3 secs or so. maybe the MB is fried then. does anywhen have any idea of how much this would cost to buy and be repaired. sorry for silly question, but not good with this sort of stuff.

Depends how you do it. If you have Lenovo do it, it's going to hurt. Laptop mobos are sort of a monopoly, you can only get them from one place. You might be able to find a mobo and do it yourself that's is assuming you're no longer under warranty. Is there somewhere you can take it to have it diagnosed? Maybe it's not the mobo and you don't want to pay for it if it's not the issue.

thanks for all ya help, left it to dry out for a few hours and now i have power but system doesnt load up. the battery light and power lights stay on, why i plug in AC adapter the plug light on the laptop stays on now as well. iv looked in the manual and the syptoms i have it says could be 1 of 3 things here they are.

1: make sure every connector is connected tightly and correctly
    2: DIMM
    3: system board

hope this information is of more help, thanks again for the help replying.

If your son did drop some drink in it, then it might have shorted something in the Mobo

i was able to turn the computer on fully today, but then i tried again and it didnt turn on. so maybe the MB is ok then, im not sure? should i leave it a few more days to dry out more, maybe something has shorted and and turning it on will do more damage. thanks again for the advice.

lol, if you could do that legally that would be hilarious

But, if you have some sort of technical expertise, I would suggest that you disassemble the laptop and make sure that all of the parts are dry and then diagnose it from then. If you said that it did turn on, something helped it turn on and POST, for all we know atm it could be the keyboard being faulty that isn't causing it to turn on.

Let it thoroughly dry for a few days! Also, open the lid and turn in a way to allow for all water/mosture to escape!

Remove battery and just allow for a good drying!

hi everyone and thanks for all the replys.

well the computer is still not working properly, but it is turning on more often now. maybe there is a little water still inside, when the computer is on it works fine and no problems. sometimes it doesnt charge as well, its about all the information i can give. if theres any thing else anyone can add to help please do so, but i think im gonna leave it a week or so to dry.
