hi
my suggestion is that you shold NOT BUY lenovo laptops ...
1st .. its not clear what product you will receive ... they change hardware and EVEN feature at same model.
example: i ordered a sl500 ... if has a wwan ready slot ... after 4 months i oder also a sl500 ... there was not wwan slot ...
no possibility to give it back.
lenovo support say that i need to ask the dealer for the model version before i order ... then go to "support and drivers" on lenovo page and look there what features the version still have ....
IMPOSSIBLE ... supporter say to me that he will not give comment to this ... this is comment enogh for me.
AFTER THAT
i oder the windows 7 update from lenovo .... after one week they say that he has received the credit card payment .... other companys can do that in 5 minutes.....
after one week more i get a mail that they shipped the update ...
right now (10 days later) i called to support .... they say i will get the update in one week ....
IMPOSSIBLE !
I WILL NEVER BUY AGAIN A LENOVO LAPTOP![]()

This simply means that they refreshed the line before you bought it. Which means that they make changes to it. But not always changes big enough to change the model number.
Hmm, wow yeah this is a bit ridiculous that it is taking that long.

I do not think the OP is dealing direct with Lenovo. I think it is an experience with a reseller.
-
Yeah, true.
OP: Please provide what reseller your reffering to.
-
so, you ordered two sl500?
-
Wasn't the sl500's replaced with the sl510?
-
Yes, it was.

I thought that was the case. I'm actually looking to replace an older asus w3v with a lenovo. The sl510 has caught my eye, more so because it seems to be a good "bang for the buck" type of deal. I also don't really need the flash and bling that are coming on most notebooks as of late. To me the IBM/Lenovo's always seemed the "old reliable" and i personally like there looks. Simple but effective!

Sorry for the double post here but a question did pop into my mind, how is the heat coming out the bottom of the lenovos? My asus has always run real hot. Keep in mind I do not over clock at all. Even just messing around on the internet it always ran warm at best.

I think most (if not all?) ThinkPads fan out hot air to the side and back, not to the bottom. Which is a good thing, of course...

Yes, ThinkPads have some of the best cooling in the world... some models weren't as good with that though. Like the T43 because it was so thin.

Since it's really not related to this thread at all, next time make your own thread in the Lenovo/IBM subforum instead of hijacking another
My T500 is very lap-friendly - while doing normal unintensive tasks, it's never uncomfortable to use on my lap. I haven't tried gaming on my lap (I probably will never be doing that...), but while on discrete graphics mode, more heat is expelled.
From putting my hand right next to the grilles, I would say that the T-series, W500, and X301 (which all have two grilles) intake air from the rear and push out hot air mainly from the left corner.
There are vents on the bottom of the laptop, but none have air being pushed out, they're there for components like the wireless card and RAM. Not a whole lot of hot air comes from those.
The X200 and X200s only have one grille, to the left side, where most of the heat is expelled. Not too sure about the X200t, but I believe it only has one grille as well. -
Thanks for the info didn't mean to hijack a thread.
