    lenovo Y580 Please help

    i wanna buy the lenovo Y580 but I have some concerns.i been reading some problems with the heat, concerning the hard drive

    The hard drive heat is overly exaggerated. If you use it on the table, you won't notice any heat most of the time, only when playing games but the heat is mostly concentrated at the vent. It's not hot even on my lap when watching videos so I don't know why many people are so concerned about it. I don't measure my hard drive temps and I see no need for it. If ever I encounter any problems with my hard drive, I will post it here but until then, there are no problems with hard disk heat.

    I have a different opinion then sachiel.

    While playing some games (in this case Skyrim) the hdd on one of my y580s got up to 62c for the entire time I was playing (hours) This is above the operating temperature 60c for the hdd.

    However I wouldn't turn away someone from this machine just for that since it's an excellent value for the money and it has a lot of positives going for it. I would say if you are going to do one of the following three things then go for it:

    a) swap the HDD with a SSD
    b) remove the HDD and put in an msata drive
    c) put in a smaller msata/ssd and move the hdd to the optical bay
