If you are using it for college, let me suggest that you get a Thinkpad instead, as they are more durable.

The Z570 isn't bad as home use entertainment machine, but for college you are better off with a business class machine.

Just want to comment that you should be sure to spend some time checking out the different screen sizes in a local store. Different people define portable differently. If you really plan to carry it around on a daily basis you might want to consider the 13.3" models. Obviously you are giving up screen size, but aside from a more portable form, the smaller size is inherently sturdier. It is simple mechanics/physics, but not everyone knows or thinks about it.
As an extreme analogy, most creatures the size of a cat or smaller can handle a 10' fall with absolutely no injury, while a hippo or elephant would be in a world of hurt.

If you're going lenovo, get a Thinkpad not an IdeaPad. IdeaPads have mediocre screens with no option to upgrade..

Thinkpad X220 with the IPS display upgrade (branded the 'Premium' display)
Thinkpad T420 with the 1600x900 display upgrade.
Thinkpad T520 with the 1600x900 or 1920x1080 display upgrade.

If you don't game, don't settle for the consumer stuff. And if you're settling for consumer stuff, IdeaPads are certainly not your best option.
