ok so i ordered t400 on may 31st. esimated ship date is the 26th. i've patiently waited a week and then saw the forums of people getting their delivery when ordering on the same day and same machine as me. its unbelievable.

what is the deal. It is completely unacceptable to me. when i ordered the notes said 10 business days.

is there a way to speed up the process. I mean in terms of talking to customer service representatives, how much power do they actually have over this.

I know its about parts and everything but this is not acceptable. one month wait is unacceptable.

Well you knew it when you ordered it, so now suddenly it is an issue? Parts are generally the issue and not everyone orders exactly the same machine. So, be patient it will get there!

uhh no. that estimated ship date on the 26th is after i called customer service. when i ordered the site says 10 business days. i was willing to accept 10 business days. one month is unacceptable.

also im furious because someone on the forum with exactly the same specs minus the processor (which isnt the issue) is getting theirs soon.

the bottle neck in the current moment is likely the dvd rom which the site says can get you a delay of 4 weeks.

clearly 4 weeks of waiting time by a customer from the point of purchase is unacceptable for any business.

Well you can certainly cancel the order at your option! If the site says it can be up to 4 weeks delay then that must be the information available and does not necessarily mean it will be the full 4 weeks.

I don't work for Lenovo, I just made a suggestion take it or leave it. No one here can change the facts that are listed on their web site. Did you not see this prior to ordering. I know I noticed those potential delays prior to making my order, though I lucked up it only took a full week before mine shipped. You just seem impatient and pissed off because others have already had theirs shipped. Why don't you call Lenovo because they are the ONLY ones that can possibly do anything. Sorry you did not like my response, but you are the one that seems to find this delay unacceptable, what do you expect any of us can do?

Well, you might still have some hope considering there are others having theirs shipped. I would just wait probably Monday or Tuesday and see if it ships in that time frame and then take a decision on whether you want to cancel the order or not.

If it is unacceptable to you then cancel it. Or just wait until you get it and never buy from lenovo again if you really hated your experience. You can always return it or refuse shipment, etc.

The reps on the phone can't speed up the process if it is already in delay due to certain parts. They can feed you some line about how the laptop is now put into priority but that doesn't mean anything.

    Seriously man, chill out...

I doubt they told you when you ordered it that it would be in your hands in exactly 10 business days, it was most likely an ESTIMATE,

Since there is a backorder on something that you ordered, there isn't anything you can do but wait for it to get in and if you want, call them to complain to see if you can get some money off, otherwise check ebay for a T400 like one you want.

from the other thread quoting your reply:

"you think thats bad, i ordered on the 21st of may, and i got an estimated ship date of 6/2, and it changed to 6/26.

    still here waiting...

when i ordered the only thing that was delaying it was the graphics, but his are the same as mine, so i dont know what could be holding it back."

im in the same boat as you, except ive been waiting a lot longer, a ship date from 6/2 to 6/26 is drastic.

same guy here. forgot old password.

so i just got a confirmation of shipping email.

Not too shabby then. Instances such as reading on this forum of people ordering the same machine and same day as me getting theirs before me, and the old bad rep I was reading about orders in early 2008 having massive delays had me a little worried. but it seems all good. seems like the order should arrive as advertized in 10 business days. Hopefully I can get that UPS number to secure the validity of this notice.

Would have hated to have to cancel as I don't like any other notebook brands other than thinkpad builds

Wow tough wise guy with an attitude?

Unlike you I try to be honest and don't take bull from anything. If something is wrong I call it. If I'm wrong I admit it and I will correct my mistakes. I like thinkpad as much as any other thinkpad fan, but being a complete diehard and willingly overlooking any and all mistakes by your admired is counter productive for all parties involved. Just because coal powered steam engines were useful in the past doesnt mean they are the way to go nowadays. Beating on a dead horse is frankly silly.

Firstly, any company that makes their customer wait for a month to recieve a product is horrendous in this day and age. Add to the fact that here it was advertized as being able to ship within 10 business days, which had they decided to deliver it a month later, would have been completely unacceptable. In fact it can even be argued that in such instances it will be a debatable breach of contractual agreement because the 10 business days delivery was part of the conditions that secured the business - give or take some degree of leniency. It is absolutely no different than them sending you a laptop with 1 gig of ram when you paid for 4 gigs. You are getting shafted either way. Everything from the tangible product to the service is part of the deal. If they stated 10 business days on their website and they deliver in a month, then it will be their fault. If they deliver it before their 10 business days then they deserve commending. Thankfully, it looks like they are beating or will exactly meet their stated date so here they deserve commending.

I could have easily recieved my email for delivery and shutup about it but I decided to come here to update my situation on all threads stating that the delivery was delivered as promised.

I also don't think my reaction was an overreaction. I placed my order and the site stated 10 business days. Customer service said it will take 1 month and I basically took it without arguments and decided to give them the benefit of the 10 days first. Then I found out people got their products delivered earlier than me but have similar builds and ordered from the same day. Further to this, I found out that this was no isolated incident in the past and that similar users both here and in forums elsewhere are having trouble. Thus, I prompted my questions here. You on the other hand were not the least bit helpful. Whatever your agenda was, I as the customer getting the wrong end of the shaft was definately wrong from the get go. I would have given them the 10 day benefit of the doubt first anyway before I will cancel. From which point I would have proceeded to order back another thinkpad anyway, just from a store with stock that delivers in 1 business day.

You can easily please the die hard fans. Its the neutral people and the critics that you need to win over. Problems should be recognized and improved for the future. Not ignored or have people like you covering the issue. Respect is earned and given to those deserving of praise. Covering up issues gets you nowhere in the long run.

No not a tough guy, someone that has a bit of common sense.

You better get to admitting your mistake, because you made one. Instead of just waiting to see, you went off all postal about it. So, correct your mistake and move on instead of continuing to argue a point that you don't have to begin with. You are the one that didn't bother to read the fine print or do your research up front. The good news is you are getting it, but yet you are still acting like those of us on this forum owe you something. We do not! Get over yourself already!
