I've ordered a T61 14.1w and I'm looking into messenger bags for it. I saw the ones on the lenovo website, but there isn't much information on them and I couldn't find any reviews. I'm wondering if anyone has either the messenger or messenger max bag and could give me some feedback on it.

All that I need it for is to carry the laptop and power supply along with a couple of notebooks and the usual pencil, pen, keys, etc.

We purchased one for our small business T61 machine. I'd say it's better than average and a step above a moderately priced Targus bag. It's help up well for the last 6-9 months. If you can afford it, I'd highly recommend a leather Vaja case or something similar :D

I didn't even notice that the top handle was missing on the messenger version of the bag. It kinda puts me off a little, since I do use the handle quite a lot on my current 13" bag. At least the messenger max has the handles, which is not so bad. That review on Amazon did give me a heads up on that, thanks.

The vaja case looks amazing, but way out of my price range. I can only wish I could afford that...

This is the messenger bag I bought from Lenovo:

    It's the Targus OCN1 Notepac.

The preview picture plus details on the Lenovo website:

For some reason, my bag didn't look like the preview picture, which looks much better built. So if you want to order this one, make sure you get the one in the preview picture.

Anyways, for $40, it wasn't a bad spend, even though they sent me a different bag. For the one I received, the inside pockets could've been stronger because I used it to carry the 90W power brick and after 9 months of use, the bottom of the pocket I used to carry the 90W ripped.

Besides that little problem, it's a solid messenger bag for a solid price. I've used it through rain, snow, and heat and it's been good ever since. And the zipper handles on it have a hole so you could lock it, too.

    I have this:
    http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/...-category-id=9FEE1EB0A846410E8D31ED47BDA13EC8

It's also a rebranded targus product. I bought it for much cheaper on eBay. It provides very good drop protection for your laptop, but not so much crush protection. The Targus SafePort system (little cushions) is great.

The bag is light and made of durable nylon, but it doesn't hold too much stuff.

    If this:
"All that I need it for is to carry the laptop and power supply along with a couple of notebooks and the usual pencil, pen, keys, etc."

is all you plan to carry, then I think this would be a good choice. I don't really use mine though :p I use a notebook backpack now.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm looking for something a little different, with a less 'laptop in here' look. I was thinking about getting the lenovo one if it did offer anything more than the usual laptop bags.

I did have a look at the kensington contour series, but couldn't find anything I liked. I saw one from Werner/Swiss that was good, especially because it had 2 compartments, one for the laptop and another for books, etc. I guess I'll have a look a some targus bags and see what they are offering as well.

If you want a slightly less nerdy looking bag also check out Crumpler Bags.

I have a "Considerable Embarassment" and love it. My 15.4" T61p just fits so a 14.1" will be no problem. $60 at BestBuy in Canada.
