Lenovo website has so many different brand names L E V Y G X H U W T...it becomes confusing what to buy or what to avoid...

Why not have Few Targeted Names for People:

    ThinkPad for laptops::
    just have 6 classes:

    1. ThinkPad Tough T540 for Tough/Bussiness (ill go for "B" but "T" already has goodwill) [discrete GPU/AMD APU] include x230 as T230 in this
    2. ThinkPad Work W540 for Worksation [Dedicated Quadro/FirePro GPU]
    3. ThinkPad Game G540 for Gaming (Y500 type thing) [Dedicated SLI/Dual Graphics AMD APU+GPU/nVidia GPU]
    4. ThinkPad Lite L440 for Lite (Macbook Air 13 inch type thing) drop the X1 Carbon name plz [discrete Intel GPU/AMD APU] include x231 as L230 in this
    5. ThinkPad Net N340 for Netbooks (google Chrome type) [discrete Intel GPU/AMD APU]
    6. ThinkPad Casual C540 for Casual/Student/Cheap laptops for Emerging Markets [discrete Intel GPU/AMD APU]

For Touch Screen stuff even better just Add TOUCH after model number "T430 Touch" & "T430" so that people can easily tell its a Touch Screen with same specs as "T430" or "L430 Touch" or "N430 Touch"

    FeelPad for Tablets (Android)::
just have 2 Class of Tablets with 2 screen sizes each:
    1. FeelPad Tough J140/J740 High End (Big 10 inch, Medium 7 inch)
    2. FeelPad Casual K140/K740 Medium End (Big 10 inch, Medium 7 inch)

ListenPad for Walkman/iPod touch/HandHeld Gaming (Android)::
just have 1 Class with 1 screen size only:
    1. ListenPad Play P440 Low End (Walkman/iPod touch/HandHeld Gaming type thing Based on Android only 4 inch Screen)

    SeePad for Smart Phones (Android)::
just have 3 classes of phones only 1 screen size each:
    1. SeePad Tough X540/Y540 High End (5.5inch Screen, 5 inch) [Samsung Galaxy S4/Note type]
    2. SeePad Casual Z440 Mid Range (4.3 inch screen) 8 mega pixel Cam with 720p video [Samsung Galaxy S2 type]
    3. SeePad Relax R340 Low Range/Cheap/Emerging Markets (3.5 inch screen) 5mega pixel [Samsung Galaxy Ace type]

    Add names
Model number Patterns matches current Lenovo naming scheme

    T540 or T440
    T540 "T" for Tough
    T 540 1st number 5 for Screen size [5 for 15", 4 for 14", 2 for 12"] same as current Lenovo scheme
T5 40 2nd number Year for Release [2014 year model for 4 which are releases in 2013 as usual]
    T54 0 3rd number Additional options
    ThinkPad Tough T540

There you have it, no confusion at all:
    ThinkPad Game G540
    ThinkPad Tough T540
    ThinkPad Game G440
    ThinkPad Lite L240
    ThinkPad Casual C440
    ThinkPad Style S130

ThinkPad Style S440 replace the IdeaPad S Series with this

drop the IdeaPad name scheme, make them ThinkPad Style, ThinkPad Youth, ThinkPad Casual something like this with a SPOT ON Name for Newbie/Novice to select & buy a Latop in 10 minutes, rather that searching for what is for 3 Weeks Right & still getting more confused...

recently my friend ask me what Laptop he should buy for College, i told him get Lenovo...later he bought G series or B series & had no clue what G or B is for... it was a low end laptop & he bought at High Price...he was so disappointed ... he them sold it & got HP...
if it was named something like ThinkPad Casual C330 or ThinkPad Style S330 or ThinkPad Youth Y231 then he would know he needs a Style laptop...

Even i didn't knew Lenovo has too many names other than that ThinkPad/IdeaPad T G V B series...

Nice try, but it is doubtful that they understand what you're talking about. They're trying real hard not to rename everything to ThinkBook Pro, ThinkBook Air, ThinkBook Game, ThinkBook Casual, whatever.

Your organized approach doesn't help the fact that the product offerings are overwhelmingly confusing.

nice try, but I see some problems

y500 is an ideapad, not a thinkpad.

x230/T430/T530/W530 are very clear as to what they do. The confusing ones are E430/L430/T431s/x230s.

    On a whole different note...

There already was a "G" series of ThinkPads, comprised of G40, G41 and G50 (the last one was a Japanese-market-only unit) and they were not hot sellers at the time. I doubt that Lenovo would want to invoke memories of that era, so you'd have to pick a different letter for gaming series...

Why should they mess with their naming scheme? They have this scheme since ~2000 (with some modification 2008), and it served well until now. Ok, they have now many lines more, but overall, a naming scheme like Apple would be even more confusing, because Lenovo won´t give up many of their notebook product lines, so we would get "ThinkPad L 15" 2013", "ThinkPad T 14" Slim 2013", "ThinkPad X Tablet 12" 2013", "IdeaPad Y 15" 2013" etc. ...

i am not saying follow Apple naming scheme like "ThinkPad L 15"

    I meant was

    1. ThinkPad Tough T540 for Tough/Bussiness
    2. ThinkPad Work W540 for Worksation
    3. ThinkPad Game G540 for Gaming
    4. ThinkPad Lite L440 for Lite

    Add names
Model number Patterns matches current Lenovo naming scheme

    T540 or T440
    T540 "T" for Tough
    T 540 1st number 5 for Screen size [5 for 15", 4 for 14", 2 for 12"] same as current Lenovo scheme
T5 40 2nd number Year for Release [2014 year model for 4 which are released in 2013 as usual]
    T54 0 3rd number Additional options

    There you have it:
    ThinkPad Game G540
    ThinkPad Tough T540
    ThinkPad Game G440
    ThinkPad Lite L240
    ThinkPad Casual C440

ThinkPad Style S440 replace the IdeaPad S Series with this

Seems like having that sort of naming scheme is a bit redundant, as in why have "Tough T540" instead of just "Tough 540", or "T540".

I don't see Lenovo's naming scheme as all that confusing. Just from the Thinkpad series, we have:

    X: very portable Thinkpads
T: standard-sized Thinkpads, Intel or weak nVidia graphics (similar to Dell Latitude, HP Elitebook -p)
W: workstation Thinkpads, with more powerful nVidia graphics (similar to Dell Precision, HP Elitebook -w)
L: standard-sized, but less durable, Thinkpads (budget T series; similar to Dell Vostro, HP Probook)

So the only difference I see between Lenovo's Thinkpad line and other business lines is that they want to have a different letter for their sub-14" Thinkpads (X series). Not that confusing imo.

    For the IdeaPads, there are...

    S: netbooks
    N: budget laptops
    Z: mainstream laptops
    Y: gaming
Yoga: convertible laptop (not sure if it's a one-off or will "Yoga" be a series name)

    Not all that confusing, imo.
