hey guys... I've run into an interesting situation. I tried to install the latest version of the nvidia driver from nvidia.com, but during the setup, I was greeted by the all powerful BSOD. The computer restarted, and now the system won't boot up because of missing System32/Drivers/nvpciflt.sys. I've disable optimus from bios and tried booting into safe mode, but to no avail. No matter what I try, the error remains. I really REALLY do not want to use the recovery discs, as the hdd was already swapped with an ssd and has lots of (mainly development) software carefully set up.
anybody have any idea on how I could solve this?
edit: it seems that manually replacing the said file isn't enough... the error persists

Did you try System Restore?

I ended up using the recovery discs on an old hdd. After restoring, I updated the drivers through the Lenovo autoupdater, then copied all the files newer than Jan 2013 (just to be sure) from c:\windows\system32 and c:\windows\system32\drivers to the SSD, overwriting the ones found on it.
Rebooted, and win7 managed to boot. The video drivers were all messed up, but at least I had managed to start windows. So I went to the Lenovo site and downloaded the quadro drivers, installed them and... it's all back to normal.
I don't know if I'll ever try to install drivers directly from nvidia again, as this has cost me 5 hours of my free time
lenovo t420 nvidia driver update BSOD => windows won't start
