would a t61p suffice to play lord of the rings online?
if so, i was wondering if overall an fx570 is better than a 8600gt?
    thanks in advance!

Techniquely, 8600gt is better for gaming, since fx570m is a business class graphics card. In reality according to notebookcheck.com fx 570m is one up from 8600gt.

I think it's really about the same card.

A FX7570m is pretty much an 8600m GT with GDDR3 memory.

I tried the demo of LOTRO and it played very well with plenty of eye cany turned up, but definitely got hot fast, so not very comfortable playing with unit on lap.

So far no issues here. From what I've seen the shutdown problem was with 4GB configurations, which I believe has now been corrected anyway.

great and do you think a 2.0 processory would affect gaming very much down from a 2.2 processor?

Well...a notebook cooler never hurts. I use one of those for when I have my laptop on the desk. Gaming doesn't work that well on battery or playing games while the laptop is on your lap.

Maybe a 7%-10% decrease in performance with a 2.0 vs 2.2. Doubt you would really notice.
