i'm officially ready to place order through lenovo cpp but can't find any stackable coupons (a few weeks back there was an additional 5% off coupon which was stackable)..

Anyhow this is what I'm after:
    ThinkPad X301
    Genuine Windows Vista Business
    2 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM)
    64GB Solid State Drive
    Ultrathin DVD Burner
Integrated WiFi wireless LAN adapters: Intel WiMAX/WiFi Link 5350
    Bluetooth: Integrated Bluetooth PAN
    Integrated AT&T Mobile Broadband (3G)
    ThinkPad X300 Series 6 Cell Li-Ion
3 year depot 9x5 Next Business Day

right now CPP price is $2,655.40 + tax + $25 shipping...

should I wait for another coupon/promotion? i can't find anything I want on ebay and I don't want to wait forever either... I am flexible on the WiMAX 5350 and AT&T WWAN could do the regular one WLAN and w/out WWAN

thanks in advance for your feedback....

Have you looked in the Outlet Store. They're pretty cheap there.

You got to wait for them to be returned and then put in the Outlet Store. The difference between the X300 and X301 is very small.

But the differences are big enough that you cannot upgrade an X300 to match an X301 in performance.

The cheapest way to get an X301 is via a reseller or IBM EPP if you have access to that. They go for around $2300 via reseller and much lower with EPP.

I say the difference between a 1.2GHz CPU and a 1.4GHz CPU is marginal if any.

    sm1810,

The x301 I have on order is the EXACT model you spec'd out above minus the AT&T Mobile Broadband. I have EPP access and it came out to roughly $2375 before shipping, no tax. I purchased the same config brand new in box for $2399 on ebay and should be arriving on Tuesday or Wednesday.

If for any reason I find the resolution to be too small on the screen (I sure hope not because I'm tired of looking for a notebook) I'll sell it to you! ;)

    :)

I ordered and paid for the X300 as per above ebay link but there's something REALLY fishy going on.. Feedback was OK but supposedly the seller is 35 miles away from me so I offered to pick it up and said no I'll post it Saturday (I agreed since yesterday was my bday and really didn't want to deal with this), After 3 messages and no response, I request the user contact details.. The phone # associated with a/c is disconnected and the email address I sent payment too matches a 27 yo girl on myspace...

2 more emails including my cell and asking her to call me back or confirm that she sent it saturday (so I can get on Monday) and replied back via ebay saying "I'll ship it today!!!" what a bunch of BS today is Sunday and usps is closed..

anyhow, I just filed a paypal dispute.. I have a business verified account and the problem is the payment was balance I had on my account so not sure how eligible I am for protection. The Ebay was showing $200 eligibility.. I'm so mad it's not even funny... but nothing I can do for now.. :/

I would avoid buying laptops on ebay. PP is going to up protection, however they hardly a means of buyer protection. Your cc is negated as well with pp...

    Happy late bday, sm1810!

Aww man, that really stinks! Ebay and Craigslist are so hit or miss and can always be somewhat scary. I lucked out with what seems to be a very reputable guy so I hope yours works out ok too.

    Keep us posted.
