I'm surprised that is the best deal you could find for the 1420.

    Especially with the 25% coupon.

I could spec out the same machine with 2 years of Dell care + Accidental for $995. And I added a Ruby Red color to the lid :)

yeah it's that bad here.. we can't order dell online and have it delivered here in the philippines. sucks big time. we have to rely on local retailers that carries dell.

anyway the local retailer here in cebu offers a larger hd 250 i guess plus more ram but the bill gets bigger and my budget is limited.. :(

Don't worry yayix, the Y310 is a very solid and stable machine, runs fine in both XP and Vista, I think you made the right choice.

    sayang..tsk.

try to ask from them about their supplier.. who knows their supplier might be manila-based :)

me just got lucky since most of the time cebu city prices are way over priced compared to manila.

Planning to buy a lenovo y310 too. Octagon in Park Square 1 Makati is selling it for Php 45, 995 with 0% Interest for 12 months (till supplies last) and free Samsung Laserjet ML-1610(as of June 30, 2008). Although that Php37,900 tag would have been better. Anyway, Yayix, is your lenovo doing well? Did it have a pre-installed OS or will you still need to install one? Want to hear your review. Thanks in advance. :D

    store: Thinking Tools Inc.
    location: Cebu City

    Y310 pre-installed OS: DOS
    - this makes the laptop price cheaper. bang for the buck for linux users and those who owns Win$ OS

    - 37900.00 is the cheapest price i can find here in cebu city. Lenovo store here in SM City sells it for 39995.00 same specs with the 37900.00.

    - have no problem with my new lappy. :) although, i encountered shutdown/restart problems when i installed XP SP2 and used the free software disc that came with the laptop. i think the free softwares caused the problem since they are made for Vista. anyways, i'm using Vista (for now) coz i want to update the bios. bios update from the lenovo website only works on Vista.

I've the Y310a with the Nvidia card, I've dual boot Vista SP1/XP SP3 on it, and I don't have any problem at all with the shutdown/restart in either OS. Also, the drivers disc that came with the laptop, true it is written Vista on the disc, but a lot of the drivers in there are actually also for XP. Look into the readme or version txt files of each driver and you can see which ones are XP supported. Also, for XP, don't install the EasyButton from Lenovo's site, that's for Y410, install the EQI Utility from the disc instead.

Another important thing to know is the SATA driver for XP, download and follow the same for ThinkPads:

    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=migr-62909

Trust me, the Y310 has the same ICH8 controller as the T61, the Lenovo package above comes with a install.cmd file that allows you to install the driver while you're still in Compatibility Mode. Until now the Lenovo's support site still has no instruction for the Y310 to install the SATA driver, it's very disappointing.

    @stewie

    thanks!

    what i mean is:
    1st disc - drivers
2nd disc - veriface, norton antivir etc

i did install the SATA drivers.. right after the chipset. i've no problem while installing the drivers from the disc.. installing drivers for XP SP2 went fine - i just checked the readme/install text files of the drivers before installing to know if the driver supports XP - i also did compare the versions. my shutdown/restart problem occured after installing some if not all softwares from the 2nd disc that contains veriface, norton antivir etc..

Smart that you check the version, cause for example, for the sound driver, the Vista package is newer than the XP package, but both packages are actually for both Vista and XP.

For the shutdown/restart problem, it's probably Norton. :p
