hi everybody, this is my first thread relating to my lenovo y430 notebook, that's why i put it in this disscussion. windows vista home premium installed there. well, the problem is my notebook can't record sounds, but when i talk to a friend on skype, it worked. i can hear his sound and he hears my voice.

does that mean my computer can receive sound but can't record?
    what is a sound card?
do i have to buy a microphone?

thanks a lot, answers are so appreciated.

It seems from the information you provided that the microphone is working.

What program are you using to record sounds with when you are unable to record?
