    hey guys

so I was wondering are all y500 and y510p run hot in idle and stressed or not, cuz my y500 run idle at 48-55c and 85c for cpu stressed and 85c also for gpu stressed, the same results have came out with the y500 in similar room tempreture.

so what are your temps in HWmonitor or coretemps

also does your fan spins wihen your idling or browsing or such, or stops to spin at all, mine spins but at a very low rpm you cannot notice it unless you stick your ear in front of the vent, but spins at moderate speed when gaming :smileyhappy:

I get similar temps, maybe a bit lower on idle but i'm not running SLI.

My fan is quiet unless i'm gaming, and honestly it isn't bad compared to many other laptops. Only thing i can hear from mine is the sound of the mechanical HDD.

me to I don`t have sli, I just order the other ultrabay card gn36 with the adaptor for 200$ from amazon :) but I don`t think it will effect the temps of the other components since it draws air from another vent and has its own cooling, how lower? is the room you operate in is cold or moderate? I can never hear the fan at all only when gaming or doing something hard.

I'm a student. I operate my laptop in a variety of rooms.

Just make sure the under intake (the small vent under the laptop) is not clogged or blocked. Otherwise the laptop will get real hot real fast.

the vents are clear, i recently got my motherboard replaced in the service center and the guy missed up the thermal paste the first time so the gpu hit 100c so sent it in again but this time instructed the tech on how to do it and now my temps are much better, stressed another y500 and produced same temps under stress but the idle temps am not sure, I don`t even remember my temps before the motherboard replacement :)

I was blessed enough to have mine properly pasted when i bought it. Then again, i bought my Y410p on the day the laptop came out, so i think i got a nice model just so i could give good reviews on it LOL

I am glad you did, but to be honest lenovo did their best to remedy the situation, and replaced the whole trackpad and front cover along with the keyboard ( had the trackpad issue) despite me opening the laptop trying to remedy the situation, but I must say the GPU temps are better cuz I remember my GPU temps running in the mid 80c or something. I just receive thermal paste in the mail today and was thinking of disassimpling the laptop to re-apply it but everywhere I look I find the y500 and y510 having the same temps when stressed, I even stressed a y510p on display on the store the other day and had the same temps. so out of curiously I want to see other owners opinion on this and what their temps are :)

Y500 GT 650M SLI overclocked to the gills at 1120/2250. That's a 42% OC on core and 13% on memory, kids. Stock voltage. Repasted everything and running a cooling pad most of the time. Temps after a few days of video editing and playing some intensive games such as BF3, PlanetSide 2, Rising Storm, and Witcher 2.

I pulled the trigger few hours ago and decided to repaste with ac5 and as I expected now my idle is around 45c  so now my system seems to be 10 degrees cooler than before which is great, I will report my stressed temps later.

at first my temps were ok but after stressing the system for a few hours my temps started to go up especially the GPU  , I used the blub method and line method on the processor and GPU, with cermaque 2, I tried the spread method but that produced worst results, jobine whats the method you used and what thermal paste, and did you add washers to the heatsink screws ?

My idle temps are about the same as you guys but when I game it goes as high as 97c.. I live in a tropical country(Philippines) so that might be one. I wanted to repaste it, but can't find any dis-assembly instructions on the web, and I still have 1 year warranty. With a notebook cooler It gets around 85c.

So that means notebook cooler decrease your temps 12c thats very good.Which notebook cooler model are you using? How do you measure that temperatures I mean If u dont start hardware monitor before starting the game maximum temps r not reliable.

My CPU idles at 45-55C depending on ambient temperature and throttlestop profile (CPU kept at a static clock speed). Under load my GPUs both hit 80C and my CPU hits 94C, which is probably a bit high.

I should probably mention that play games at 1200core/2400mem GPU clocks with a 50mV voltage bump. Perfectly stable, no artifacts or unexpected behavior but obviously more temperature.

Its a CM notepal U3. Kinda big for this laptop but that means I can place the fans a lot more freely. I use GPU-Z to measure temps. I hope to get it lower by repasting but no disassemble tutorials available.

Getting 55°C CPU on full load

I have two cores disabled, underclocked and undervolted. I technically have an i4-4200U atm :)
