sometime last December my T60 started to lose battery life VERY rapidly, with no provocation. After a few days the battery was completely useless and when it was in the computer would tell me that the battery is corrupt. Ummmmm OK.

Coincidentally I was moving at the end of the month and until recently have been using solely my desktop. Fast forward to today. I decide to start breaking the T60 out again, and that I need a new battery. I would have tried to get IBM to send me a new battery, but since I got error messages when it WAS in, and it was useless anyway I kept the battery separate and it got lost during the move. With nothing to send to IBM i figured whatever I'll bite the bullet and just order a replacement. I order off of

and received the battery about three days ago. Last three days it's worked perfect, and things were good. I wake up this morning and pop on the battery however and I don't like what I see. So weird - I turn on the computer and the battery meter is displaying 83%...but it's been charging all night. I leave the computer on and plugged in and check back a half hour later - still 83%. I figure, wtfffff oh well at least it works right?

Nope. Brought it out with me and tried to boot it up while i was out, but noticed that the little green light on the actual computer itself showing there is a working battery is now off. Plug it in to a power source and now all of a sudden the little battery light comes back on. I boot up plugged in, windows starts up - lo and behold, the battery meter is still displaying 83 %, completely unchanging as it sits there supposed to be charging. I yank the power cord to see if maybe it just needs to be plugged in to get booted up but no dice.

The whole weirdness in this is that the computers recognizing the battery when it's plugged into a power source, as a working battery, yet this is far from the case now. pkjfdsfjdojfajdlsjflsajf

is this a problem with the battery or this POS thinkpad?

yeah, I found out about the recall just a liiiiiittle late. This is likely what the original problem was, but unless the defective battery somehow caused damage to the actual computer it's irrelevant at this point
