i tried installing warcraft 3 today and after i installed it, the game is very laggy. what can cause this? my r61 has the intel gm965 x3100 integrated graphics.

i am currently running vista (can that be it?) with 1 gb of ram, and reinstalled the latest intel drivers from the intel site. pretty sure i nabbed all the drivers for the laptop off the lenovo site. i changed my power setting to performance. am i missing or forgetting anything? what is causing this choppiness/lag? i even reduced everything down but the choppiness/lag is about the same

I don't play WoW but using integrated graphics with only 1GB of memory may be the cause.

When you're playing do you hear your hard drive getting thrashed as it struggles to feed the memory?

i'm not referring to WoW, but good old warcraft 3, a 6 year old game :p

duno my laptop has almost the exact same spec (same processor, 1 gb ram, vista) with the exception for the smaller hard drive, which shouldn't make a difference...

I dont think X3100 has strong enough performance futhermore, you are playing with horrible Vista!!
1GB ram which is not enough on Vista is pretty enough for playing War3 when you use WindowXP.

apparently this is linked to intel's newer drivers

    http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=252453

after a massive amount of googling, i tried using one of intel's older drivers and the game ran much better at around 30fps most of the time it still 'lags' a bit when scrolling, but i'm real sensitive to frame rate drops. ;)

Ram. Get more. Vista should not be allowed to run with less than 2GB. With shared video and swap files, you are running quite low of ram im sure. Good that ram is on the cheap these days. I remember paying $100 for a simm tree that allowed me to add my ram together and have a total of 8MB of 30 pin sims.....Wow, sorry I must have drifted off for a minute there.

yea i plan to get more ram soon and i know ram are like dirt cheap now but i dont really have the money atm (unless if a super good deal pops up :D). i'll probably buy a stick of 2gb ram and stick it in with the 1 gb i have. 32bit vista/xp is capped at 4 gb of of ram max anyhow right? so in the super long run, i can just replace the 1 gb stick with another 2gb stick if i feel like it :D

i plan to stick a 512mb stick of ram from my old laptop onto this one so i can have 1.5 gig for now.
