    all,

when i called ibm's toll-free to request for recovery disks, i was told that along with their delivery of the recovery disks i would have to do a mandatory update through their website at http://www.pc.ibm.com. can anyone please advise me, what is this mandatory update and how does it relate to the recovery disks i was requesting?

    rgds,

You don't have to do anything.
They probably mean that you will need to go to IBM's site and manually update the drivers after you do your recovery; because the disks were made several months ago and there have been many updates since then.
