Looks like the options for the R61 are the same as they are for the T series

PC Card plus one of the following:
    ExpressCard
    SmartCard
    4-in-1 Media Reader

PCIe is a PCI-Express slot, which is internal. You have to pick either the Express Card slot OR the Media Card reader. They occupy the same space on the laptop so you can't have both.

Actually, the configurator for the 15.4 inch T61 on the US site indicates that the media card reader is standard in every case for the T61 (unlike the R61), plus you get either the Expresscard or Smart Card slot:

Would not surprise me. On my T61p 15inch, there is a place on the chassis for the media reader. The card reader, PC Card, and Firewire logic are all baked into the same chipset (Ricoh I believe) on the board, so it's essentially "free". A colleague with a 14inch T61 has it hogging up one of the card slots :)

Be careful when buying a R61. All the reviews I've seen are of the 14 inch model, but the features of the 15 inch model differ significantly.

Only the 14 inch has a magnesium reinforcement in the top cover, is Energy Star compliant and has optional 1 GB Turbo memory.

Based on the configurator, the 14 inch model has a PCMIA slot plus one of the following: 4-in-1 card reader, Expresscard slot or Smart Card slot.

However, the configurator for the 15 inch model makes no mention of a card reader, Express card slot, PCMIA card slot or Smart card slot.
    http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/...low:java-configure?x=x&sb=:00000025:00000163:

I suppose this could equally mean that all are standard, or all are unavailable on the 15 inch model.

Since I was unable to find a review of a 15 inch R61, and the Lenovo site is unhelpful, could someone with a 15 inch R61 please answer whether it includes a card reader, a PCM1A slot, an Expresscard slot and/or a Smart card slot?

    Thanks,
    Fuzzy

So, does anybody know whether the Lenovo 15.4 inch R61 comes with a media card reader and/or an Expresscard slot?

There is no option to choose them on the configurator and the specs are unclear.
