    Hi All,

After almost every 4 days, I receive "media test failure, check cable" error on Lenovo w520 laptop's screen and all my data disappears along with Windows 7 on Western Digital HHD. Please advise me on how can I fix this error forever.

A quick response will be highly appreciated.

    Best regards,

    Creator147.

Maybe as a place to start, try a Linux disc. You can boot from it and then when you get to the desktop, you can see if you can access the hard drive. If so, it might not hurt to back up anything you can't afford to lose.

If this is happening every 4 days, then my first advice if you haven't already is to make a copy of all of your personal data (pics, music, docs, etc.)

After that I would backup the machine and do a restore to a new drive. If you run for a couple weeks on the new drive without issue, I would wipe the old drive.

Back up your data, run PC Doctor from F11 recovery partition. Likely your drive is failing.

Is your laptop under warranty? If so, and if it is, in fact "URGENT", I would *always* recommend calling support over posting on a forum.

That said, backup your data and follow the suggestions above. Your drive may very well be on its way out.
